General Breed Info

The Cane Corsos are classic mastiffs without the loose skin of the other related mastiffs. Cane Corsos were once used as cattle drivers and hunters of large game animals. They originated from Italy, and were, and still are, used as police dogs. They have tight skin around the mouth which ensures less drooling than other mastiff breeds. Their coat is very coarse and shinny. Cane Corsos can be a great family pet, watch dog, guard dog, and are good with children. They are extremely intelligent dogs who can be easily trained. They thrive on regular exercise. Cane Corsos weigh between 80 to 160 lbs. The males stand 25 to 27.5 inches and the females 23.5 to 26 inches at the shoulder. Cane Corsos vary in colors. They can be fawn, red, blue, black, black brindle, chestnut brindle, blue brindle, or formentino.
